WIll Salony Selected for NCAA Cross Country Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Trinity men's cross country sophomore Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) has been officially selected to compete in the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships, as part of the full field of teams and individuals announced by the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee today.

Salony earned his way into the national meet by finishing 17th at yesterday's NCAA West Region Championships, hosted by Whitworth University in Spokane Valley, Washington. Salony earned All-Region honors for the first time in his career and will be going to the NCAA Championships for the first time as well.

Earlier this season, Salony broke a 23-year-old school record with his time of 24:43.7 in the 8K Augustana Interregional Meet, hosted by Augustana College (Ill.). Just two weekends ago, he was second in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, leading the Tiger team to a runner-up finish as well.

Trinity will send a team or individual to the NCAA Championships for the seventh straight postseason, though it will be the first Tiger men's representative since Harry Bellow competed individually in 2019. Head Coach Emily Daum is in her ninth season in charge of the men's and women's cross country teams.
