Cross Country Logs Six Top-Ten Finishes, Four PRs in OLLU Invitational

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University Cross Country collected a quartet of collegiate personal-bests Friday morning in the Our Lady of the Lake University Invitational at the Alamo Sportsplex.

The women's six-kilometer event produced the four PRs for the Tigers as first-year Emily Gnecco (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) led the Trinity group with a third overall finish at 23:43.5, an improvement of over two minutes from last week's University of the Incarnate Word Invitational.

Fellow Tiger rookie Grace Etzel (Friendswood, Texas / Friendswood) logged a more-modest 47-second personal-best, 23:53.7, for the sixth spot in the field overall, second only to Gnecco amongst NCAA III entries.

The men's trio of first-year Thomas Melina-Raab (Austin, Texas / McCallum), sophomore Marco Jonsson (Sugar Land, Texas / Dulles) and first-year Brandon Haub (Kennedale, Texas / Kennedale) finished consecutively from seventh to ninth to lead the Tiger men's group, all within seven seconds of each other.

Senior Maia Dykstra (Asotin, Wash. / Asotin) rounds out the six top-ten finishes for the Trinity programs, finishing eighth in 24:03.5 to best her previous career-best from last year's OLLU Invitational at the Windcrest Golf Course.

Sophomore Elizabeth McLauchlin (Houston, Texas / Episcopal) also found continued success in the annual OLLU meet as she too set a new personal-best of over five seconds after her previous PR reigned for 363 days.

Trinity Cross Country will make an appearance in next week's Augustana Interregional Invite, hosted by Augustana College at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois on October 15.

The 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships will take place on the campus of Southwestern University on Saturday, October 29. The NCAA III Regional Championship for the Tigers will be hosted by Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.
