Rome, Georgia - Trinity's Mary Kaffen and Zoe Kaffen finished in a tie for seventh place in the Division III Women's Doubles bracket at the ITA Cup on Friday.

The Kaffen twins started the day with a hard-fought 7-5, 4-6, 6-10 Quarterfinals loss to the fourth-seeded team of Crystal Juan and Anna Kern of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association event.

Trinity's tandem had another battle, this time in the consolation bracket. The Kaffen sisters were edged 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 6-10 by Emory (GA) University's Emma Cartledge and Defne Olcay, and finished tied for seventh place.

On Thursday, the Kaffens opened their second consecutive ITA Cup with a 6-3, 7-5 first-round victory over Grace Riermann and Maggie Riermann of Bethel (MN) University.

The Kaffen powerhouse qualified for the national event by winning the ITA Southwest Region Doubles Championship in September at Abilene, Texas, for the second time in a row.

Trinity opens its dual-match season January 25, 2020, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
