No. 8/9 Tigers Power Past Centenary to Complete Weekend Sweep

SAN ANTONIO - The No. 8/9 Women's Soccer team dominated the Centenary College Ladies to improve to (7-0-1, 3-0-0 SCAC). Senior forward Molly Sheridan (St. Louis, Mo. / Kirkwood) scored her fifth goal of the season in the 31st minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Maya Ozymy (Dallas, TX / Coppell) then found the net twice in 30 seconds to provide Trinity with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
Junior goalkeeper Joey Finley (Albuquerque, NM / Early College Academy) started in goal for the Tigers and split time with first-year goalkeeper Lauren Little (Houston, TX / Episcopal) to combine for a shutout. Little made one save in her collegiate debut.
Trinity put 12 of their 32 shot on frame while holding Centenary to just two total shots. Trinity also dominated in the corner kick category with 13 total corners. Centenary only managed to take one corner kick. The Tigers also maintained possession for much of the match. Sheridan led Trinity with six total shots with three of those being on goal. Ozymy was right behind her with five shots and the same number of shots on frame.
On the Prowl
The Tigers controlled the pitch for most of the match and put 32 total shots. Three of those shots happened within the first 10 minutes while Trinity was trying to figure out their game plan. While the Tigers put together great runs, they were unable to find the back of the net.
Sheridan managed to break the tie in the 31st minute with a goal. Senior midfielder Alana Wickham (Rockwall, TX / Rockwall) dribbled through defenders until she found a seam and then located Sheridan for the goal.
A minute later, a few reserves checked in for the Tigers and made their presence felt with their fresh legs. In the 44th minute, first-year forward Hanna Khan (Southlake, TX / Southlake Carroll) found Ozymy twice for two goals that were nearly identical. The Tigers were able to take a 3-0 lead heading into the break.
Trinity went on to take 16 more shots during the second half but could not find the back of the net. The Tiger defense was also able to hold the Ladies to just one shot for the duration of the match.
The Tigers will be on the road for the next two weekends. On Friday, September 30, the Tigers will take on Austin College at 6:00 PM. Then on Sunday, October 2, TU will face off with the University of Dallas at 1:00 PM.
