Tiger Women's Soccer Duo Selected for Academic Honors

San Antonio - Senior defender Kristen Canepa and junior goalkeeper Paige Wallace have been elected to the United Soccer Coaches Women's Scholar All-West Region Teams.

Canepa was tabbed for the Scholar All-West Region First Team for the second consecutive year. Wallace received a position on the Scholar All-Region Second Team. Canepa is an accounting major, while Wallace majors in anthropology. Each player has earned Trinity Dean's List recognition, as well as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Academic Honor Roll kudos.

Recently, Canepa was elected to the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team for the second year in a row. She also was named to the organization's All-West Region First Team, and was elected the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive occasion. Canepa scored five goals, with two game-winners, and chalked up two assists.

Wallace was previously selected for the All-SCAC Second Team. The talented keeper was ranked 19th in NCAA Division III goals-against average, at 0.523. Wallace made 38 saves during the campaign.

Led by fourth-year Head Coach Dylan Harrison, the Tigers completed the season with a 17-4-1 overall record and an 8-0-0 mark in conference play. Coach Harrison and his assistant coaches were elected the DIII West Region Staff of the Year by United Soccer Coaches.

Trinity won the SCAC regular-season title and was runner-up in the conference tournament. The Tigers received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time since 2016. In the final rankings of the 2019 season, D3soccer.com ranked Trinity the 20th team in the nation, and United Soccer Coaches listed the Tigers at #22.
