San Antonio - The 20th-ranked Trinity women's soccer team opens competition Saturday in the NCAA Division III Championship at Hardin-Simmons (TX) University in Abilene, Texas.
Led by fourth-year Head Coach Dylan Harrison, Trinity (15-3-1) meets 23rd-ranked Pacific Lutheran (WA) University (16-2-2) at 1:00 p.m. Central Time in Saturday's opening round. Host Hardin-Simmons (17-2-1), ranked #21, takes on Southwestern (TX) University (16-4-1) at 3:30 p.m. The winners advances to the second round at 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
The Sectionals are scheduled for November 22-24 at sites to be determined. The Semifinals and Finals are slated for December 6-7 at Greensboro, North Carolina.
Trinity received an at-large bid to the NCAA postseason event. The Tigers tied host Southwestern 0-0 last weekend at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship in Georgetown, Texas. Southwestern earned an automatic bid by winning the shootout 5-4.
Last season, the Tigers opened the NCAA Playoffs with a 1-0 shutout victory over Occidental (CA) College at Abilene. Trinity lost 3-0 in the second round to host Hardin-Simmons.
The Tigers will compete in their 11th consecutive NCAA Championship and the 25th overall. Recent highlights include an NCAA runner-up finish in 2013 in the tournament played at Toyota Field in San Antonio. The Tigers last advanced to the Quarterfinals in a 2016 home match.
