San Antonio - The Trinity women's soccer team rose one position and is now ranked 20th by the latest D3soccer.com poll, while receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
Led by fourth-year Head Coach Dylan Harrison, the Tigers stand at 14-3 and finished the regular season with a perfect 8-0 mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). The Tigers posted an undefeated conference record for the 11th campaign in a row and also won the SCAC regular-season title.
Trinity is the top-seeded team in this weekend's SCAC Championship, to be held Friday through Sunday at Southwestern (TX) University in Georgetown, Texas. The Tigers received a bye to the semifinals and will play at 11:00 a.m. Saturday against the winner of fourth-seeded University of Dallas (TX) and #5 Texas Lutheran University. The championship game is set for 1:00 p.m. Sunday with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
Last year, the Tigers captured their 10th consecutive SCAC Championship, beating Southwestern 1-0 on Trinity's field. Trinity claimed its 23rd overall SCAC title in the process.
This season, sophomore midfielder Camryn Beall leads the team with nine goals and three game-winners, along with posting an assist. Sophomore midfielder Kaity Ward has accounted for seven goals and two game-winners and is second on the team with seven assists.
First-year defender Nyah Shepherd leads the Tigers with nine assists and has also contributed two goals. Junior goalkeeper Paige Wallace has a 0.51 goals-against average and has made 26 saves this season.
Trinity's prolific offense averages 3.35 goals per matchup. The defense has registered 12 shutout victories, and opponents have been limited to a 0.47 GAA.
