San Antonio - Trinity sophomore midfielder Kaity Ward has been tabbed as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Ward sparked the 18th-ranked Tigers to a pair of SCAC road victories last week. Trinity edged Southwestern (TX) University 2-1 and then blanked Texas Lutheran (TX) University 5-0 to wrap up the weekend.
Ward scored a goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half of the matchup with Southwestern, which turned out to be her first game-winner of the season. She fired at the goal against Texas Lutheran, but her shot bounced off the crossbar.
This season, Ward is second on the Tigers team with five goals in her column. She also has amassed four assists and leads the team with 14 points.
Trinity heads out of state this weekend for two games, starting with a SCAC tilt Friday in Denver, Colorado, with Johnson & Wales (CO) University. The Tigers then travel to Thousand Oaks, California, Sunday to take on California Lutheran University in a non-conference game.
