San Antonio - The 13th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team concluded a home weekend with a 9-0 shutout Saturday of NCAA Division III opponent McMurry ((TX) University.
The Tigers improved to 4-6 overall and 3-1 against Division III competition. McMurry dropped to 1-5 after the loss.
Trinity swept the doubles matches to start the day as Jordan Pitts and Cameron Krimbill won #1 doubles, Christian Settles and Hao Nguyen took the second line, while Wilson Hamilton and Jace Akagi-Okuma won the third.
Nguyen and Settles remained undefeated at 5-0 in doubles, while Hamilton and Akagi-Okuma stand at 4-1.
The tightest match in singles occurred on the first line as Krimbill won 7-6, 7-5. Pitts won the second match, and Hamilton was victorious in the third.
Nyugen upped his singles mark to 4-2 after winning #4 singles, and Akagi-Okuma picked up the win on the fifth line. Settles rounded out the action in the sixth match and improved to 3-2 on the season.
Trinity will host two Division III opponents on Saturday, February 22, starting with 39th-ranked California Lutheran University in a morning match. Later in the day the Tigers will take on Concordia (TX) University.
