#13 Men's Tennis Falls to #1 Tyler JC and Abilene Christian

Abilene, Texas - The 13th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team lost to Tyler (TX) Junior College and Abilene Christian (TX) University on Saturday.



The Tigers lost 1-6 to top-ranked Tyler Junior College, and 2-5 to NCAA Division I member Abilene Christian.

Trinity now stands at 2-6 overall, while Tyler JC improved to 2-1, and Abilene Christian upped its record to 5-3.

The dual-match scoring was based on junior college and Division I formats.

The Tigers won #2 doubles against Tyler JC as Cameron Krimbill and Hao Nguyen took the second line line 7-5. 

Tyler JC, the reigining junior college champion, won the doubles point as Christian Settles and Jordan Pitts lost the first line, and Artur Zigman and Wilson Hamilton were edged in the third.

Trinity's only win in singles occurred in the third match as Hamilton took out his opponent 6-4, 6-0.

Cal Hunter lost a tightly played tiebreaker in the first set at #5 singles, and then lost the second stanza.

Trinity played outstanding doubles indoors against Abilene Christian. Krimbill and Settles won the second line and Hamilton and Akagi-Okuma took the third as the Tigers won the doubles point. Pitts and Nguyen lost the top doubles match.

Nguyen was Trinity's lone winner in singles, capturing the fourth match 6-2, 6-2.

Pitts lost a tightly contested #2 singles 5-7, 5-7, and Hunter was edged 4-6, 5-7 on the sixth line.



The Tigers make their home debut Friday by hosting Division II member St. Edward's (TX) University at 3:00 p.m. McMurry (TX) University, from Division III, comes to campus at 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Trinity currently stands at 2-1 against DIII opponents.
