Honolulu, Hawaii - The 13th-ranked Trinity men's team completed its Hawaii trip with a 6-3 victory over NCAA Division III opponent Pacific (OR) University on Sunday.
Trinity improved its overall record to 2-2, while Pacific dropped to 0-4. The Tigers stand at 2-1 against DIII opponents in the early part of the campaign.
The match opened as the Tigers took a 2-1 lead after doubles. Jordan Pitts and Christian Settles took the top line 8-3, while Cameron Krimbill and Artur Zigman won the second 8-6. The third match went to the Boxers, as Wilson Hamilton and Jace Akagi-Okuma lost a tight matchup.
The Tigers prevailed in four of six singles matches, starting with Jordan Pitts, who won the line two matchup in straight sets. Pitts went 3-1 in singles on the Hawaii trip.
Pacific continued to battle though and won the fifth line, as Zigman came up short. The Tigers then increased the lead to 4-2, as Settles won the #6 pairing.
Hamilton had the honor of clinching the dual match with a victory at #3 singles.
Krimbill won a second-set tiebreaker to capture the top line. Pacific finished the match as Akagi-Okuma lost at #4 singles.
The Tigers head to Corpus Christi, Texas, next Saturday to play two matches against NCAA Division I opponent Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
