#15 Tiger Men's Tennis Falls Short Against #1 Emory

San Antonio - The 15th-ranked Trinity men's tennis team finished the weekend with a 6-3 loss at the hands of top-ranked Emory (GA) University on Saturday.

After Emory took the lead with a narrow 8-6 win at line three doubles, Trinity evened the match with a victory at line two by Tiger seniors Chas Mayer and Clayton Niess

Emory escaped with a 9-8 win at #1 doubles, though, and the Eagles took a 2-1 advantage into singles action.

That momentum carried into singles as well, as Emory scored the first three singles wins out of the gate to clinch the match and a 5-1 lead.

Liam Crawley was able to put the Tigers on the board in singles at line four, and then Jordan Pitts finished the match with his 6-3, 5-7, 10-2 win at line three.

Trinity drops to 9-9 on the season, while Emory improves to 9-4 with the victory.  The Eagles beat the Tigers earlier this year to open the ITA Indoor Championships in Ohio.

Liam Crawley and Jordan Pitts both won their ninth singles matches of the year for the Tigers.

Chas Mayer and Clayton Niess improve their doubles record to 10-3 this season.

Trinity hits the road for a pair of matches next weekend, facing off against the University of Texas-Tyler and Whitman (WA) College in Tyler, Texas.
