Men’s Soccer Takes Season Series over Colorado College, 4-3, in SCAC Semifinal
SHERMAN, Texas – Trinity University Men's Soccer took a 4-3 decision from Colorado College in the first semifinal match of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship on the campus of Austin College.
Senior forward Chen Adjei (Euless, Texas / Trinity) put the Tigers (9-4-3, 6-1-1 SCAC) on the board after back-to-back strikes from Colorado College in less than 30 seconds between the 23rd and 24th minutes of action for his fifth goal of the campaign, featuring the fifth assist of 2022 for junior defender Jesus Veloz (Dallas, Texas / Lone Star).
Less than a minute later, Trinity found its equalizer through the 10th goal of the season from senior forward Michael Somerville (Ft. Worth, Texas / Arlington Heights). All four first-half strikes between both squads of Tigers came in a five-minute window of play from the 23rd to the 28th minutes.
Adjei wasted no time from the second-half opening kickoff to find his sixth goal of the season, this time an assist credited to senior defender Kyle Davis (Plano, Texas / Liberty). Less than five minutes later, Davis collected what would become the gamewinner in Friday night's SCAC semifinal as Colorado College mustered one more score in the 81'.
Trinity Men's Soccer will remain in Sherman, Texas through the weekend as it awaits the victor of second-seeded University of St. Thomas and third-seeded Southwestern University.
