Tigers Ready for Final Tune-Up Matches Before Conference Play
SAN ANTONIO - The Tigers will be playing two more non-conference matches before starting the Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference portion of the schedule. The 1-2-2 Tigers will travel to UMHB on Friday and host Concordia on Sunday.
The Men's Soccer team traveled to Colorado College last weekend to battle the Gold Tigers in a non-conference match but ultimately fell 3-1. Trinity was down 2-0 heading into the second half but junior Joseph Kuri (San Antonio, TX / TMI Episcopal) scored to cut the lead in half in the 56th minute. CC scored late in the match to increase their lead and put the match out of reach for the Maroon Tigers.
By the Numbers
Trinity comes into the weekend averaging 16.2 shots per contest.
The Tigers have scored eight goals on the season with 11 assists being credited.
Sophomore forward Michael Meese (Williamsburg, Va. / Jamestown) leads the Tiger offense with three goals on the year.
Junior defender Jack Eubank (Raleigh, NC / Needham Broughton) leads the team in assists with three on the year.
Trinity will head over to Belton to face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday, September 23 under the lights at 7:00 PM. The Tigers will then come back home to Paul McGinlay Field to host Concordia University on Sunday, September 25 at 7:00 PM.
On UMHB: The Cru enter Friday night's contest with a record of 2-1-1. UMHB's two wins come over the University of Houston-Victoria and Our Lady of the Lake University. The Cru also tied with SCAC foe Texas Lutheran in a 2-2 draw last Monday. UMHB is averaging 2 goals per match on 9.8 shots as an offense. Three different Cru members lead the team with two goals scored on the season. Alex Bethke has taken seven total shots and has a Shots on Goal percentage of 85.7.
On Concordia: As of today, the Tornados have a 4-1-0 record with their only loss coming to the University of Houston-Victoria. Before taking on the Tigers, Concordia will host Southwestern university. The Tornados have scored 15 goals as a team while holding opponents to seven total goals on the season. Concordia averages three goals per match on 16.2 shots per contest. Theo Givens leads the Tornados with four goals on the year.
Following this weekend, Trinity will begin its eight conference match stretch with three of those being at home. On Friday, September 30, Trinity will host Texas Lutheran at 7:00 PM.
