Trinity Men's Soccer Bested by Colorado College on the Road

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Men's Soccer team lost 3-1 to Colorado College on the road in a nonconference match this afternoon. Trinity now falls to 1-2-2 while Colorado College improves to 3-2-1 on the season.  

Junior Joseph Kuri (San Antonio, TX / TMI Episcopal) scored the Maroon Tigers lone goal of the day to cut the deficit to 2-1 before CC put another ball in the back of the net to take a 3-1 lead. TU outshot Colorado College 12-to-6 and put four shots on frame while CC had two shots on goal. 

The Rundown

Sophomore Michael Meese (Williamsburg, Va. / Jamestown) took the first shot of the match in the 9th minute but it was off target. CC followed that up a minute later with a goal to take an early 1-0 lead. Trinity earned a corner kick in the 25th minute but was unable to capitalize. 

In the 40th minute, the CC Tigers took a 2-0 lead on an own goal due to miscommunication. Trinity was unable to move the ball after that and failed to get another shot off before the first half ended. 

Senior Michael Somerville (Ft. Worth, Texas / Arlington Heights) started the second half with a shot on goal that was saved by the CC keeper. In the 56th minute, first-year Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) found Kuri in open space and he scored to bring Trinity within one point. 

With about 12 minutes left, CC put the match away with a goal to take a 3-1 lead on the Maroon Tigers. 

Up Next

Trinity will travel to Abilene, Texas September 23 to take on UMHB. The Tigers will then return home to host Concordia University in their final nonconference match of the season.
