Four Trinity Men’s Soccer Players Earn  All-SCAC Honors

San Antonio - Four members of the Trinity men's soccer team have earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) accolades.

Junior midfielders Quentin Van Der Lee and Andrea Codispoti, along with sophomore defender Jacob Galan, were tabbed for the All-SCAC First Team. First-year midfielder Michael Pham made the All-SCAC Second Team.

Codispoti was selected for the 2018 All-SCAC Second Team. This season, he was named an SCAC Player of the Week, and he leads the Tigers with eight goals (three game-winners) and 19 points to go along with three assists.  He is a key player in Trinity's offense which averages 2.29 goals per game.

Van Der Lee was honored as an All-SCAC First Team recipient for the second consecutive year. The 2018 All-American has scored three goals (one game-winner) and dished out two assists over 15 games.

Galan and Pham helped the Tigers chalk up five shutout victories and limit opponents to 1.03 goals per game. Galan also contributed one goal, which was a game-winner, and Pham had a goal in his column.

Led by 29th-year Head Coach Paul McGinlay, the Tigers stand at 10-5-2 overall and 6-3 in the SCAC. Trinity is hosting the SCAC Championship Friday through Sunday, and the Tigers are the third-seeded team. 

The Tigers will take on sixth-seeded University of Dallas (TX) at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The winner advances to Saturday's semifinals at 1:30 p.m to meet #2 Texas Lutheran University. The championship game is slated for 1:00 p.m. Sunday with the winner guaranteed an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

Last year, the Tigers captured their seventh consecutive SCAC Championship and the 21st overall. Trinity and Southwestern (TX) tied at 1-1 in the championship matchup, and the Tigers prevailed 4-2 in penalty kicks. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 for the sixth time in seven seasons.
