San Antonio - Three senior members of the Trinity men's basketball squad were elected to the All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Teams.
Forward Danny Rivara was tabbed for the All-SCAC Third Team, while forward Matthew Colliflower and guard Taylor Kim made the Honorable Mention Team. The announcement was made Saturday night at the SCAC Basketball Tournament at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.
Rivara became a three-time All-SCAC honoree. He was named to the Second Team in 2016-17, as well as being selected as the SCAC Newcomer of the Year. Last season, Rivara made the First Team and was chosen as the SCAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Earlier this week, Rivara was presented the prestigious SCAC Elite 19 award. The SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to a student-athlete with the highest GPA among All-SCAC recipients.
Playing in 18 games this season, Rivara averaged 14.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per matchup. He shot 48.2% from the field, while accounting for 18 steals and 19 blocked shots.
Colliflower and Kim were first-time All-SCAC recipients. In the regular season, Colliflower shot 54.6% from the field, averaged 5.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while chalking up 26 assists. Kim posted 13 assists and 10 steals, while averaging 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest.
Led by 20th-year Head Coach Pat Cunningham, the Tigers entered the SCAC Tournament as the sixth-seeded team. Trinity defeated #3 seed Centenary (LA) College in the quarterfinals, then suffered a narrow defeat to #2 seed Texas Lutheran on Saturday. Trinity has won seven SCAC Championships, including three in a row from 2012-2014.
