Harrison Durow and MJ Metz Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trinity baseball players Harrison Durow (Dallas, Texas / Lovejoy) and MJ Metz (San Diego, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) have been selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team.
The Tigers recently finished as the runner-up at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, though the team remains the top-ranked team in Region 10 according to the NCAA Regional Rankings released this week. Trinity holds an overall record of 32-10 this season and finished as the SCAC Regular Season Champions with a 19-2 conference record this year.
Durow, a sophomore pitcher, has been named Honorable Mention All-SCAC each of the past two seasons. This year, he holds a 6-0 record in 14 appearances, recording 61 strikeouts in 38.2 innings of work, and holding opponents to a .176 batting average.
Metz, a senior infielder, earned Second Team All-SCAC recognition this season and was also named to the SCAC All-Tournament Team. He leads the team in nearly every offensive category this season and is ranked in the top 50 in Division III in seven different categories. Metz has collected 19 doubles and 11 home runs among his 64 hits and .381 batting average, as well as leading the team with 57 runs scored, 47 RBI, and 20 stolen bases.
Led by 24th-year Head Coach Tim Scannell, Trinity is awaiting a potential at-large bid to the NCAA Playoffs. The selection show is Monday, May 16, and the Regional Tournaments begin the following weekend (May 19-22). Coach Scannell has led the team to the playoffs 13 times in his career and this season marks the 17th time in his tenure that the Tigers have won 30 or more games.
