San Antonio - Five Tiger student-athletes have been selected for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Fall All-Sportsmanship Team.
The conference places a special emphasis on sportsmanship throughout the year. The fall sports coaches were asked to select a student-athlete who exhibited sportsmanship during the season.
Junior libero/defensive specialist Sami Lin represented volleyball on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Lin was selected for the SCAC All-Tournament Team, as the Tigers defeated Colorado College for the title. During the season, Lin was second on the team in digs, with 500 in her column (3.79/set). The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division III Semifinals, finished the season with a 37-5 record, and were ranked fourth by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 Poll.
First-year forward Kristen Coniglione contributed to the success of women’s soccer. Coniglione scored four goals and chalked up two assists. The Tigers advanced to the SCAC Championship game, and to the NCAA Round of 16. Trinity completed the season with a 17-4-1 record and is currently ranked #21 nationally.
Junior Rodrigo Castillo is a midfielder on the men’s soccer team. He started nine games for the Tigers, including the last four of the season. Castillo sent one assist to his teammates. Trinity advanced to the SCAC Semifinals and to the NCAA Second Round. The Tigers completed the campaign with a 12-7-2 record.
Juniors Laurel Daughtrey and Aaron Garcia were the nominees from women’s and men’s cross country. Daughtrey finished in 16th place at the SCAC Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado, while Garcia came in at #33. Trinity’s teams finished as runners-up at the SCAC meet. The Tiger women placed fourth at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at Memphis, Tennessee, and the men were 11th. Daughtrey and Garcia were alternate runners for the Regional event.
